Mum Sues Salon Over Hair Extensions; Tribunal Dismisses Claim
A Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal has dismissed a mother's claim against a Melbourne salon owner over $700 hair extensions for her teenage daughter.
A Melbourne mother's claim for damages against a salon owner over a $700 hair extension appointment for her teenage daughter has been dismissed by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
The mother, Bianca Chung, sought compensation from salon owner Claudia Giuliano after her then 16-year-old daughter received the hair extensions at Salon Claudia Giuliano in Melbourne's southeast on May 17 of the previous year. Chung alleged the extensions were botched and sought $800 in damages.
However, evidence presented at the tribunal painted a different picture, leading VCAT Member Robert Daly to dismiss the claim. Ms. Giuliano defended her work as professional. As an act of goodwill, she had offered to install weft extensions, according to tribunal notes.
