Multiple individuals sustained injuries in a mass shooting incident at the Seattle Center on Sunday evening, according to police.
Emergency crews and law enforcement began arriving at the scene shortly after 6 p.m. The Seattle Center was the location of the Bite of Seattle food festival over the weekend. Police urged the public to avoid the area via a post on X. Authorities have not yet confirmed if any suspects have been taken into custody.
Witnesses described scenes of chaos as people fled the area. Kayla Carris, 22, was near the Seattle Center Armory when the incident began. She told The Seattle Times that people started screaming and running for cover inside the Armory, with "everyone" appearing to be in a panic. Todd Behrends, 59, reported hearing multiple rounds of gunfire and observed people running and jumping over one another to escape. Behrends also stated he saw a woman on the ground and a man being attended to by medical personnel as he moved toward an exit.
