Multiple people were injured in a mass shooting incident at the Seattle Center on Sunday, according to Seattle police. Authorities began arriving at the scene shortly after 6 p.m. The area was hosting the Bite of Seattle food festival over the weekend.

Seattle Police urged the public to avoid the area via a post on X, formerly Twitter. As of Sunday evening, police had not confirmed whether any suspects had been taken into custody. Police have not yet released further details on the number of victims or the severity of their injuries. Calls to the Seattle Police Department for additional information were not immediately returned.

Witnesses described scenes of panic as the shooting unfolded. Kayla Carris, 22, told The Seattle Times that she was sitting outside the Seattle Center Armory when screams erupted and people began running for cover inside the building. "Everyone was just throwing stuff and running," Carris stated. "Like everyone."
