A dramatic road rage confrontation on the Bruce Highway, captured on video and widely shared online, has highlighted the bravery of a young Muay Thai boxer who stepped in to protect two women. The incident began when a Mercedes van allegedly rammed a Hyundai carrying Lilli Fletcher and her girlfriend Felicity Plate.

Ryan McDonald, 19, a Muay Thai fighter known as 'Ryan The Sun King McDonald', was returning from a camping trip when he witnessed the van driver, who had reportedly been upset by a gesture from the Hyundai occupants, ram their car. According to McDonald, the van driver then exited his vehicle and attempted to open the door of the Hyundai.

McDonald intervened, confronting the man and preventing further escalation. The man reportedly took off his shirt and challenged McDonald to a fight, while his female partner also became involved. McDonald, concerned about the escalating situation and blocking traffic, urged the pair to leave the highway. Good Samaritan Ryan McDonald gave the Daily Mail a blow-by-blow account of the incident

Adding to the unfolding drama, the mother of one of the young women, Melody Scott, and her son Billy Fletcher, arrived at the scene. They were on their way home from competing in the Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival, still wearing their race medals. Scott, a marathon runner and triathlete, expressed on social media that her primary concern was protecting her family.
