Ms. Rachel Criticizes Celebrities for Silence on Gaza

Children's YouTube entertainer Ms. Rachel has publicly criticized celebrities who have remained silent on the conflict in Gaza, stating in a recent social media post that she is unimpressed by fame when public figures are "doing nothing" during what she has described as a genocide.

Rachel Griffin Accurso, known professionally as Ms. Rachel, posted on Instagram, "I don’t fan girl over someone who is doing nothing during a genocide." She added that she would decline opportunities to meet such individuals. Accurso indicated, however, that she would still engage with prominent figures if she believed she could persuade them to use their platforms for advocacy, noting that she has "had a conversation with someone with a massive platform any day to try and convince them to speak out."

The statement follows criticism from the Campaign Against Antisemitism, which stated that Accurso's stance amounted to an "exclusionary political test." A spokesperson for the organization said, "Ms. Rachel’s comments on who she is willing to work with are patently hypocritical. Acting as an adjudicator is a privileged position in and of itself, and subjecting people to political purity tests is by definition exclusionary."

This is not the first time Accurso has used her platform to address the conflict. In September, she pledged to match rapper Macklemore's $1 million donation to Palestinian aid organizations and urged "every wealthy White celebrity" to do the same. During an appearance on comedian Ilana Glazer's podcast, Accurso questioned why celebrities with secure careers would not publicly advocate for civilians in Gaza, asking why they couldn't "risk something to help save lives."

Accurso's increasing engagement with political issues has drawn scrutiny. Bethany Mandel, a Washington Examiner contributor and author, accused Accurso of amplifying a narrative she attributed to Hamas, telling Fox News Digital that the children's entertainer had become an influential voice on the war.

Accurso, who has over 21 million YouTube subscribers, has also made political contributions, donating to Democratic and progressive candidates since 2024. Her brand has expanded through partnerships with companies like Netflix, Penguin Random House, and Spin Master.
