MS Now host Jacob Soboroff suggested that remarks made by Vice President JD Vance about the Watergate scandal may have revealed more than intended.

Vance, speaking at the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, California, on Thursday, commented that the Watergate scandal, which led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon, would likely not have the same impact in the present day.

"As I joked with Robert backstage, if Watergate happened tomorrow, it would be like a 12-hour news story," Vance said. "The idea that it would have taken down a presidency is crazy."

Soboroff, filling in for Chris Hayes on Friday's "All In," replayed Vance's statement, calling it "a pretty telling confession." He suggested that Vance's remark implies a shared sentiment among some Republicans that current events under Donald Trump's influence are more significant than Watergate.

"If you have looked at Donald Trump’s America and thought to yourself, ‘Man, it is worse than Watergate on a daily basis’, turns out you’re not really alone,” Soboroff stated.

Soboroff also highlighted Vance's comments on "how the deep state took down Richard Nixon," which Vance described as "not all that different" from "the same institutions" that he believes are targeting Trump.

"JD Vance is just sayin’ out loud what Republicans under Trump have been suggesting for years,” Soboroff observed. “It is a lot easier to rule if you don’t have to worry about gettin’ in trouble for doin’ crimes."
