Moviegoer Films Filthy Seats at AMC Theater, Sparking Outrage

A social media video showcasing what appears to be a row of heavily stained and dirty seats at an AMC theater in Glendale, California, has prompted a strong reaction online. The clip, posted by a moviegoer, shows an entire section of seating in visibly poor condition at The Americana at Brand shopping center.

In the video, the woman recording expresses her disgust, stating she had previously noted the poor condition of the seats about a year and a half prior and found them to be in even worse shape upon a recent visit. She claimed that the seats had been in this state for over two years.

The footage quickly gained traction on Instagram, accumulating hundreds of thousands of views and numerous comments from other patrons who shared similar experiences or expressed their dismay. "The Americana and the Grove have the dirtiest AMCs I’ve been to despite being such fancy malls," one commenter wrote. Another echoed the sentiment, "I knew EXACTLY where this was before reading the caption! I sent in a complaint and nothing. So sick."

Following the widespread attention, AMC responded to the video in the comments section of the post. A representative for the theater chain stated that the location has already begun a seat replacement project. "The good news is that this location has already started construction on a seat replacement project, with upgraded AMC Club Rockers – wider and more comfortable seats – coming soon. We hope you’ll come back to experience the improvements!"

The company's statement indicates that the theater is in the process of upgrading its seating to address the concerns raised by the moviegoer and others who have commented on the condition of the venue.
