Motorcyclist Jailed Four Years for Dangerous Driving After 189 MPH Chase

A motorcyclist has been sentenced to four years in prison for dangerous driving after filming himself reaching speeds of 189 mph and leading police on a high-speed chase. Amin Belechguer, 29, accumulated 21 dangerous driving offenses.

Belechguer was arrested after police officers spotted him speeding on a Kawasaki Ninja H2r motorcycle on the A20 Ashford Road in Kent, England, without a registration plate. The officers, responding to another incident with lights and sirens activated, were cut off by Belechguer. He then slowed down and appeared to taunt the officers, prompting a pursuit around 10:45 p.m. on June 27, 2025.

During the chase, Belechguer traveled at speeds exceeding 130 mph on a single carriageway with posted speed limits ranging from 40 to 60 mph. He also crossed solid white lines into oncoming traffic while driving over a hill. The pursuit was deemed too dangerous to continue, and officers called for backup. Further down the road, other officers deployed a stinger device, which disabled Belechguer's motorcycle.

After his bike came to a stop, Belechguer attempted to flee on foot into nearby bushes but was apprehended by officers. The motorcycle, which he had purchased for approximately £19,500, was seized along with his phone and GoPro camera.

An examination of Belechguer's devices revealed video footage of him riding throughout Kent, London, and Essex at speeds up to 189 mph, dating back to July 7, 2024. The recovered videos showed him traveling at more than double the speed limit on motorways and through town centers. He also performed dangerous maneuvers, such as undertaking other vehicles and riding wheelies. Additional footage captured him running red lights, racing other vehicles at car meets, and riding on sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. The video of the chase that led to his capture was also found among the recordings.

Belechguer, from Clapham, London, pleaded guilty to all 21 counts of dangerous driving and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court. In addition to his prison sentence, his motorcycle was permanently confiscated through a forfeiture order. Upon his release, Belechguer will be disqualified from driving for 10 years.

Investigating officer PC Daniel Goodman stated that officers acted quickly to apprehend the dangerous motorist. "Despite having to terminate a pursuit due to the dangerousness of Belechguer's driving, teamwork saw his vehicle brought to a stop and secured his arrest," Goodman said. "Not only did Belechguer drive at triple the speed limit in some instances, but he demonstrated little regard for basic road safety when he failed to adhere to road markings, signage, and traffic lights."

PC Goodman added, "Throughout the investigation, Belechguer showed no remorse for the fact he placed his life and the lives of other road users at risk on numerous occasions. This prison sentence, the confiscation of his bike and a long driving ban will keep other motorists safe for some time to come."
