Motorcyclist Dead, Another Critical After Ute Rollover in Rural New South Wales
Police allege the 18-year-old driver of the ute tested positive for alcohol following the Sunday morning collision.
A motorcyclist has died and another rider is in critical condition following a collision involving a ute towing a horse float in Booral, New South Wales. Emergency services were dispatched to The Bucketts Way around 10:20 a.m. on Sunday, where they discovered the ute had rolled and impacted two motorcycles.
Paramedics attended to the riders at the scene. One motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead. The second rider, a man in his 70s, sustained serious leg injuries and was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical state.
The driver of the ute, an 18-year-old woman, was treated by paramedics but did not require hospitalization. Police conducted a mandatory roadside breath test, and she allegedly returned a positive result. She was subsequently transported to Stroud Police Station for further testing.
The horse being transported in the float was unharmed. Police have secured the scene and initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Authorities are appealing for witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward.
