Notes extracted from Lindsay Clancy's iPhone revealed she expressed 'resentment' towards her two older children months before allegedly killing them and her infant son, the prosecution stated Thursday during her murder trial. Clancy, 36, is accused of strangling Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan at their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. She has admitted to the killings but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis.

A note found on the iPhone, dated October 25, 2022, stated: "I sort of resent my other children because they prevent me from treating Cal like my first baby." The former nurse also wrote, "I'm terrified of something happening to my kids or doing something wrong to mess up their development." She expressed sadness about not being able to parent her third child as she did her first and not feeling as connected due to stopping breastfeeding.

Clancy also wrote about her desire for more children, expressing internal conflict given her lifelong wish to have many children, while also stating, "I still don't want Cal to be our last, but I have a lot of figuring out to do before I have another." The notes also touched on her concerns about starting medication for anxiety and depression, stating, "I just want to feel happy."

Massachusetts State Police trooper Timothy Chiappini read the notes aloud in court, prompting Clancy, who is paralyzed and uses a wheelchair, to put her head in her hands at the defense table.

Earlier evidence presented included text messages between Clancy and her mother, Paula Musgrove, in the weeks leading up to the January 2023 killings. In a message on January 12, 2023, Musgrove asked, "Still feeling a little better?" to which Clancy replied, "A little bit." On January 14, Clancy texted, "Hanging in there and waiting for the day I wake up feeling like me."

Clancy wrote that she was 'terrified of something happening' to her children even though she felt 'resentful' towards them in October 2022

Lead investigator Josh McKelligan also testified about the condition of the Clancy home on the day of the killings, and jurors were shown video footage from the primary bedroom. The trial was dismissed for the remainder of the week and is scheduled to resume on Monday.

Clancy allegedly strangled her children with exercise bands before attempting to take her own life, an act which resulted in her lifelong paralysis. She is also suing her former healthcare providers, alleging medical malpractice and negligence.
