A Wisconsin mother has described a terrifying ordeal after her own daughter allegedly stabbed her multiple times in the parking lot of a Georgia Chick-fil-A. Kimberly King, 39, was reportedly knifed by her daughter, Shyanniah Ma'ree Johnson, 21, following a dispute while they were traveling from Florida to Milwaukee with King's young son and grandson.
King stated she pulled into the Acworth, Georgia, restaurant's parking lot after her daughter appeared to become aggressive. According to King, Johnson "put my hair down and just started just stabbing me. She stabbed me multiple times. She stabbed me all over my head, my arms, my shoulders." Johnson allegedly stabbed her mother approximately 10 times.
Deputies at the scene were able to call an ambulance for King, who was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Johnson, who sustained a leg injury during the altercation, allegedly drove away from the scene with the two children still in the vehicle.
Officers located Johnson's car in Whitfield County. She was taken to Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton before being booked into jail. Court records indicate Johnson faces charges of aggravated assault and two counts of third-degree cruelty to children.
Cherokee County Judge Shannon Wallace released Johnson on a $3,000 bond. King expressed fear following her daughter's release, telling Fox 5, "I do not feel safe. I'm upset they let her out."
King, a manicurist, has stated on a GoFundMe page that the attack has left her hands paralyzed, impacting her ability to work and care for her children. She reported needing assistance with daily tasks such as bathing and dressing, and caring for her three-year-old son.
In her personal account, King mentioned that her own mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and had stabbed King's grandmother when King was a child. However, King clarified that her daughter has not been diagnosed with any condition. King noted that she recognized behaviors in both her daughter and her mother that, in retrospect, served as warnings she did not know how to interpret.
The two children are currently in the custody of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services in Whitfield County. A lawyer for Johnson declined to comment on the case. The Daily Mail reported that Judge Wallace, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, and King were contacted for comment.
