Christine Wonsley, the mother of 18-year-old college football player Nolan Wells, has described the last interaction she had with her son before he went missing during a Fourth of July boat excursion. Wells' body was discovered in the water days later and subsequently identified.
Wonsley recounted that her son prepared a salmon dinner for her before departing to stay at a friend's house, as he planned to embark on the trip with friends to Horn Island, Mississippi. According to Wonsley, their final exchange was a brief farewell. "After that he was just like ‘Hey mom, I’m about to go, Iove you.’ It was a hug, kiss and he left,” she stated during a press conference.
Wells was reported missing after the boat trip. His remains were recovered on Monday, and dental records confirmed his identity the following day. The incident has prompted discussions and attention, with figures such as Ben Crump and Al Sharpton appearing alongside Wonsley at the press conference.
