Mother of Two Dies After Cycling Collision; 80-Year-Old Driver Arrested

Michelle Tiller, a 44-year-old mother of two, has died after being struck by a car while cycling. The incident occurred on Lindsay Avenue in Northampton at approximately 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1.

Tiller was transported to University Hospital Coventry, where she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday, September 17. An 80-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has since been released on police bail pending further investigation.

Her husband, Robert, described Tiller as "the kindest person you could ever hope to meet." He shared that she loved their two children, Riley, 20, and Cameron, 15, "with all her heart." The couple, who had been together for 23 years, married in 2025.

Robert Tiller recounted his wife's lifelong passion for horses, which began at age 13. He stated that horses were "part of who she was" and not merely a hobby. He further described Michelle as supportive, patient, and endlessly caring, often putting others before herself.

He noted her dedication as a mother, emphasizing her deep love for their sons, and mentioned her ability to bring laughter and enthusiasm to any situation. Tiller also supported her husband through his own disabilities while working in supported living and caring for others. She was described as incredibly fit, determined, and hardworking.

Michelle Tiller shared a close bond with their Springer Spaniel, Luna, with whom she competed in agility events. Luna also accompanied the couple on their honeymoon and anniversary trips. Friends and family have recalled her warm, friendly, and joyful nature, highlighting the positive impact she had on their lives.

Northampton Police are continuing their investigation into the collision and are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward.

Michele Tiller is also survived by her parents, Jim and Glennis, and her sisters, Maxine and Natalie.
