Police are investigating the deaths of a mother and her two young children in South Australia as a murder-suicide. Helena Wright died on July 27 after jumping from a clifftop at Cape Northumberland with her infant son, Lewis, and daughter, Hazel. Their bodies were recovered by local fishermen, but three-month-old Lewis has not been found despite an extensive search.

Authorities have stated there is no chance the infant survived, deepening the shock within the tight-knit community of Mt Gambier. The land and water search for Lewis has been called off, though police will continue to search the shoreline. Wright had reportedly visited the Mt Gambier police station pleading for help on the Sunday before the incident but was turned away.

When a friend requested a welfare check on Monday morning, officers found Wright's home empty. It is believed she was already en route to Cape Northumberland with her children. Her husband, Brad Wright, an electrician, has not publicly addressed the loss. A friend has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral costs, flights for Wright's family from Estonia, and to support Mr. Wright.

Photos shared on the fundraising page depict a family life that friends described as deeply religious. The fundraiser organizer stated, "On the 27th of July, Helena stepped from a cliff with her beautiful babies in her arms into the arms of her waiting savior." The campaign has raised over $31,000 towards a $75,000 goal.

Neighbors described the Wrights as private people and devastated by the tragedy. One neighbor stated, "She was obviously troubled and obviously depressed," while vehemently rejecting speculation about Mr. Wright, calling him a "tremendous father who adored his wife."

Ms. Wright's white SUV was found at the Cape Northumberland car park with its engine still running. Rumors have circulated in Mt Gambier regarding potential causes, with some speculating about postnatal depression or psychosis, though authorities have not confirmed these as factors. A coronial investigation is underway.
