Mother Kills Daughter, Then Herself After Losing Custody Battle
A mother fatally shot her four-year-old daughter before taking her own life hours after a judge ruled her ex-husband would have full custody of the child, according to reports.
Cibelle Savella died Tuesday after shooting her daughter, Vivian, and then herself at a Houston townhouse. The incident occurred on the same day a judge ruled that Vivian's father, Aaron Savella, would have full custody of their child. Cibelle succumbed to her injuries two days later.
An attorney for Aaron Savella told the Daily Mail that a judge had expressed concerns about Cibelle Savella's ability to care for Vivian, citing fears for the child's emotional safety. The judge's ruling stipulated that Cibelle would only be allowed to see Vivian in the presence of a mediator.
Aaron Savella's lawyer, Charlotte Rainwater, stated that it was "unfathomable" that Cibelle would inflict such violence on their daughter. A statement released by Savella's attorneys described Vivian as being "loved without limit" by her father.
Cibelle and Aaron Savella's divorce was finalized in 2024. Reports indicate that Cibelle Savella was living with her second husband, Greg Kubala, at the time of the incident. It is unclear when she remarried.
