Mother Jailed for Six Years for 'Campaign of Mental Torture' Against Neighbors

A mother of seven, Sufina Aslam, 42, has been sentenced to a 12-month supervision order after a seven-year campaign of harassment against her neighbors. The incidents, which included hurling dirty nappies, sanitary towels, crisp packets, and even cooking pans full of oil into their garden, led to the victims incurring £4,000 in costs for cleanup and repairs.

Footage released this week, captured earlier this year, shows Aslam repeatedly tipping bin bags full of rubbish into the already littered garden. In separate clips, she is seen throwing cooking pans filled with oil over the fence and smirking as she peered over the boundary.

During a hearing at Birmingham Magistrates' Court, prosecutor Fahad Gazge detailed the repeated offenses, stating that "dirty nappies, sanitary towels and food were thrown over the garden fence. There was banging on the walls and shouting through the walls." One victim, a 50-year-old who wished to remain anonymous, described the prolonged harassment as "constant mental torture," leading to sleepless nights, deteriorating health, and affecting her children's education. She added, "I panic when I hear her voice."

Another neighbor corroborated the timeline, stating the harassment had been ongoing for six to seven years and occurred at all hours. While Aslam had ceased her actions for approximately six months prior to the court appearance, the long-term impact on the victims was significant.

District Judge Michelle Smith deemed an "intense supervision court order rather than custody" to be appropriate for Aslam. However, the judge warned that any further offending could result in jail time. Aslam was also ordered to pay £70 in compensation to her neighbors.
