Mother Drowns Trying to Rescue Children in Bahamas Snorkeling Incident

A 36-year-old British woman died in the Bahamas after she was caught in a strong current while trying to rescue her two children during a snorkeling trip. The incident occurred on Tuesday south of the island of Bimini.

The family was on a snorkeling expedition when the children were pulled away by a strong current. The mother immediately entered the water to save them but was also overcome by the current, according to a spokesperson for the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

Rescuers located the woman and performed CPR at a ferry dock. She was transported to a local clinic, where she was pronounced dead by a doctor. Her sons were rescued from the water.

Foul play is not suspected in the drowning. The Royal Bahamas Police Force stated that officers responded to the incident and confirmed the woman's death after efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

This incident marks the fourth death in the waters off Bimini in the past two years, with two of the previous victims also being snorkelers, The Telegraph reported.
