Mother Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Son, Attack on Two Other Children

A mother has been charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with the alleged stabbing of her three children, which resulted in the death of her five-year-old son. The 42-year-old woman also faces charges related to the injuries sustained by her one-year-old and three-year-old children.

Authorities responded to the incident on Sunday afternoon in Valley Heights, a town in the Blue Mountains region. The horrific scene was discovered by two passing cyclists who administered first aid before emergency services arrived.

The mother and two of her children were transported to Westmead Hospital in critical condition. The alleged attack occurred while the family was parked on a quiet street.

On Tuesday, the mother appeared before Penrith Local Court via videolink from her hospital room, where she remains under police guard. She was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on November 20.
