A six-year-old boy has been reunited with his father after his mother was arrested in southwest Wyoming following an alleged kidnapping and a high-speed chase. Marisa Calliea, 30, was taken into custody on Monday after traveling from Michigan with her son, Liam Malburg, who had been reported missing for approximately one week.

Calliea did not have legal custody of Liam and was expected to return him to his father, Justin Malburg, on the Thursday before he went missing. Malburg expressed gratitude on Facebook for an anonymous tip that led to his son's discovery. The tip directed officers to a GMC Terrain parked in a Walmart parking lot in Wyoming.

According to a probable-cause affidavit, a police officer located the vehicle and waited for Calliea and Liam to emerge. When approached, Calliea allegedly provided a false name for herself and her son. She then entered the SUV and drove away, initiating a pursuit. The officer reported that Calliea reached speeds up to 40 mph within the parking lot and significantly faster on main roads, running a red light and driving down a one-way street with Liam in the car.

The affidavit states that Calliea's vehicle became airborne at one intersection due to excessive speed before she eventually stopped. Calliea was removed from the vehicle and arrested. Both she and Liam were examined by medical personnel after the vehicle's airbags deployed.

Calliea faces multiple charges, including child endangerment, interference with a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended or revoked license. Authorities also reported finding approximately 2.35 grams of suspected marijuana in the GMC.

Calliea's stepfather told investigators that she had contacted him stating she was experiencing issues with Malburg and claimed he had assaulted her. He also stated he had provided her with money for a trip but was unaware of her destination. Calliea is currently being held at the Uinta County Detention Center. Liam was safely returned to his father.
