Mother Arrested for Child Neglect After Leaving Four Children Home Alone for Five Days

Irene Miller, 50, was arrested at Orlando International Airport on Friday and charged with four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. Police say Miller left her four children, aged nine, 11, 12, and 14, unsupervised in her Kissimmee condominium for five nights while she traveled to Las Vegas.

One of Miller's children was rushed to the hospital during the five-day period. The children are now reportedly staying in a motel with their father, Mark Miller, who has become their primary caregiver. Miller was apprehended by deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff's Office as she deplaned.

Miller was booked into Orange County Jail. Her estranged husband, Mark Miller, with whom she has been going through a divorce for the past two years, is now the unexpected sole caregiver for the children. The couple has no formal custody arrangement, and they currently share guardianship.

Mark Miller was previously arrested and charged with battery on August 21 after allegedly striking Irene Miller outside their children's school. He has denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty. Irene Miller was refused to fly back to Florida even after one of her children was hospitalized.
