Mother and Three Children Die in Devastating House Fire in Bootle

A mother and her three children died in a house fire in Bootle early Tuesday morning. Lisha Brabin, 36, and her children Leo, 16, Ellis, 8, and Prudence, 7, were found deceased in an upstairs bedroom.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at approximately 3:30 a.m. Six fire engines and eight firefighters responded to the scene at Stone Square, arriving to find the house already heavily engulfed in flames and spreading rapidly. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and discovered the victims.

Kane Stephenson, the children's father, was found outside the residence with serious burns and was transported to the hospital by the North West Ambulance Service. He is understood to have attempted to rescue his family by breaking windows.

Another of the couple's four children was reportedly staying elsewhere and was not present during the incident. A GoFundMe campaign organized by individuals who knew Lisha Brabin has already raised over £5,000.

Locals gathered at the scene to pay tribute, leaving flowers, teddy bears, photographs, and cards. A family tribute described Lisha as a "devoted and loving mother who lived for her children" and the children as "beautiful babies" who brought "so much joy, happiness and love." The family expressed their devastation at the "unimaginable" loss and requested privacy during their grief.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police have launched a joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Fire crews remained visible in the community in the days following the tragedy.

Sefton Council leader Marion Atkinson offered condolences, calling the incident "truly devastating" and acknowledging the shock and sadness felt across the communities. Chief Fire Officer Nick Searle stated that firefighters were faced with a rapidly developing fire upon arrival and reiterated that a full investigation into the cause would be conducted.
