Mother and Three Children Die in Devastating House Fire in Bootle

A mother and her three children have died in a devastating house fire in Bootle. The victims have been identified as Lisha Brabin, 36, and her children Leo, 16, Ellis, 8, and Prudence, 7. They were discovered in an upstairs bedroom of their home in Stone Square in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene at approximately 3:45 a.m. to find the house "well alight" and spreading rapidly. Six fire engines and eight firefighters responded to the blaze. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the home and found the four individuals with no signs of life.

Kane Stephenson, the father of the children and partner of Ms. Brabin, was found outside the property with serious burns and was taken to hospital. It is understood that another of the couple's four children was not at the residence at the time of the fire.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police have launched a joint investigation into the cause of the fire. Emergency services have expressed their devastation at the tragedy.

"This is a truly devastating incident that I know will have shocked and saddened people across our communities," said Sefton Council leader Marion Atkinson. "Our thoughts are with the family, their friends, neighbours and everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy."

Chief Fire Officer Nick Searle stated that fire crews arrived to find a "rapidly developing fire" and subsequently discovered the four casualties. He added that a visible presence would be maintained in the community in the coming days.

A family tribute described the deceased as "devoted and loving" and stated that the "tragic loss of Elisha and our three precious children has left us heartbroken."

Locals have begun paying tribute at the scene, leaving flowers, teddy bears, photographs, and cards. A GoFundMe page established to support the family has already raised over £5,000.
