The mother and fiancée of U.S. Army 1st Lt. Tyler Feehan, who was killed in an Iranian drone attack in Jordan on July 18, remembered him as a brave and passionate individual eager to serve his country. Feehan, 25, was one of three service members who died in the attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base.

"We are so proud of him, and it’s just so touching that the country is also sharing in that pride with us," said his mother, Shari Feehan. Her sentiments were echoed by Feehan’s fiancée, Claire Fletcher, who described his enthusiasm for the deployment.

"He was so excited to go," Fletcher told Fox News. "He was just so excited to finally do his job that he’s been training for and working towards, and he was so excited to get out there and make a difference and change lives." Fletcher added that Feehan remained positive throughout his service, recounting his successes such as shooting down missiles.

Feehan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His family emphasized the importance of military service, noting that his father served 26 years in the Army. "He carried that legacy on," Shari Feehan stated.

Fletcher expressed a mix of sadness and pride regarding Feehan’s deployment, wishing for him to gain valuable experience and return home safely. Feehan was laid to rest in Georgia on Friday, beside his grandfather, a Vietnam War veteran who passed away shortly after Feehan's death.

Shari Feehan found solace in his final resting place at the Georgia National Cemetery, noting the peaceful setting. She also shared her experience of flying back to Georgia aboard Air Force One at the invitation of President Donald Trump, describing him as genuine and attentive to their stories about Tyler.

"It was such a nice experience to be able to meet and talk with the president," she said. "I feel like he was very genuine in speaking with us, and we got to let him know a little bit more about Tyler and the wonderful young man that he was."

Posthumously, 1st Lt. Tyler Feehan will be awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Action Badge for his service. Stephen and Shari Feehan, the parents of US Army 1st Lt Tyler James Feehan, become emotional as they are recognized by President Donald Trump as he speaks at Wheeler High School on July 22, 2026 in Marietta, Georgia.
