A family excursion on New York Harbor ended in tragedy when a boat carrying 14 people capsized, resulting in the deaths of a mother and her five-month-old daughter. The incident occurred near the Statue of Liberty.

The captain of the vessel is now facing over a dozen criminal charges as authorities investigate the potential causes of the capsizing, including whether the boat was overloaded. The circumstances surrounding the event are under examination.

In a separate development, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that over 1,200 individuals were arrested during a large-scale immigration enforcement operation conducted throughout the Atlanta area. Federal officials stated that a significant number of those apprehended had prior criminal charges or convictions. ICE indicated that similar enforcement actions are planned to continue across the nation.
