The gunman who died in a shootout that killed a Montreal police officer and a civilian had authored a 104-page manifesto expressing rage against Zionists, capitalism, law enforcement, feminism, and the pornography industry, according to reports.
The shooter, identified as 25-year-old Seth Hatfield, was killed after opening fire in a Jewish neighborhood, wounding one female officer and killing Constable Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, 34, and Michael Moshe Mizrahi, 68, a local suit seller.
The manifesto, which Hatfield concluded with the directive "Be unflinching, go forth, and KILL THEM ALL!", blamed feminism, liberalism, and capitalism for a perceived "terrible loneliness, isolation, and social degradation" among men. He also expressed a desire to establish a "new order" that would restrict women's freedoms.
Hatfield also identified "the headquarters of international pornography companies" and those who "actively promote pornography to the public" as targets. The shooting occurred near the headquarters of Aylo, the parent company of Pornhub, where broken windows were visible in the building following the incident. Aylo stated it was aware of reports connecting the shooting to its company but would not speculate on motive.
The document listed influential Zionists and corporations tied to Zionism among dozens of "valid potential Class A targets." Other groups and individuals identified as potential targets included international real-estate companies, private equity firms, elite bankers, politicians, CEOs in healthcare and oil, plastic surgeons, and cryptocurrency moguls.
The attack prompted residents in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood, a densely Jewish area, to shelter in place. Police Chief Fady Dagher described the event as a "tragedy" and a "nightmare." Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with the Bureau des Enquêtes Indépendantes leading the probe. Authorities believe Hatfield acted alone.
