Montana Brown Addresses Backlash Over "Rage-Baiting" Parenting Videos Amid Health Struggles

Montana Brown has acknowledged that her online presence has "hasn't been the best" following criticism for her "rage-baiting" parenting videos. The Love Island star revealed in a lengthy Instagram post that she has been dealing with a series of health issues, including a recent diagnosis of hyperthyroidism and female pattern baldness.

Brown shared that a year ago, she experienced insomnia and panic attacks while breastfeeding, which she later suspected could be linked to postpartum depression. After consulting with Pippa Campbell, who suggested checking her hormones due to suspected thyroid issues, Brown underwent tests.

"After being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, female pattern baldness, extremely low iron and just dealing with it mentally whilst not being able to sleep properly, I've struggled," Brown stated. She explained that these health challenges occurred concurrently with her hair rapidly falling out in clumps, all while she attempted to be a present mother to her son Jude, three, and daughter Miley, 21 months.

Addressing her social media content, Brown admitted she felt pressured to create videos based on personal thoughts, suggesting some opinions might have been better suited for private conversations or delivered more positively. She reflected on a perceived shift from her earlier content, which she described as more positive and joyful, attributing her current struggles to the broader sadness and anxieties she feels about world events.

"I feel angry, distraught and like we're going backwards and I'm scared," Brown wrote. "So whilst I always want to speak about the difficult topics because I want to, I can definitely work on my delivery."

Brown's previous parenting videos, which drew significant backlash, focused on topics such as school desserts, sugar consumption, and children's food pouches. She criticized schools for serving desserts daily, arguing it contributes to children's issues with sugar and processed foods. She also expressed concern over parents buying ready-made food pouches, calling them "full of c**p" and suggesting alternatives like fruits and vegetables.

Her opinions on these matters have led to accusations of demonizing sugar, guilt-tripping parents, and spreading misinformation, particularly regarding her stance on using Calpol for fevers. Brown stated she does not use Calpol, claiming it counteracts the body's response to viruses, and mentioned using homeopathic tinctures for her son's high temperatures. This approach was met with criticism, with many highlighting Calpol's role in relieving discomfort and preventing febrile seizures.
