A long-tailed macaque snatched a British tourist's phone at the Uluwatu Temple in Bali, Indonesia, and later returned the device filled with selfies and a video.
Oliver Lloyd, 19, from Telford, Shropshire, was visiting the popular temple on June 15 when the monkey grabbed his phone. The primate then disappeared into the surrounding forest, prompting Lloyd and his girlfriend to search for the device with the help of temple guards.
After more than an hour, the couple located the phone using a tracking app. A temple guard then retrieved the device from the monkey.
Upon checking the phone, Lloyd discovered that the macaque had recorded a lengthy video and taken several close-up selfies. "He's got his nipples in as well," Lloyd commented on one of the photos.
Lloyd had been taking photos of the monkeys to send to friends when the incident occurred. "I put my phone down towards my pocket for a second and heard my girlfriend shouting my name. They snatched my phone straight out of my hand," he said.
