A Florida mother learned her missing autistic son had been found safe while she was in the middle of a press conference appealing for the public's assistance. Olga Adcock was seeking help to find her 16-year-old son, Benjamin, who has autism, when an announcement was made that he had been located.
“Oh my goodness gracious!,” St. Johns County Sheriff Rob Hardwick exclaimed, turning to embrace Adcock, who responded, “Praise the Lord!”
“Wow, there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Adcock said, expressing her relief and gratitude to the sheriff.
Benjamin had been missing for nearly 48 hours. He had wandered away from his home in St. Augustine on Saturday afternoon. The search effort involved K9 units, drones, helicopters, and numerous volunteers. A good Samaritan ultimately found the teen after recognizing him from a social media appeal photo.
