Corie Walsh, 40, accused of murdering her 2-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, has retained Andrea Lyon, the former attorney for Casey Anthony, the woman infamously acquitted of murdering her daughter Caylee. Walsh is charged with killing her son on September 1 at their Frankfort, Illinois, home.

Lyon, a former law school dean, gained notoriety for her role on Casey Anthony's defense team. She has been dubbed the "Angel of Death Row" for her past success in capital punishment cases. Lyon released a statement calling the situation a "tragedy for the Walsh family" and suggested Walsh was experiencing a "psychotic episode" at the time of the incident.

Authorities allege Walsh described her son to police as the "anti-Christ" and the "devil." A neighbor reportedly discovered the toddler's body hanging from the basement rafters and found Walsh upstairs in a bathtub attempting suicide with a knife.

Prosecutors claim Walsh was texting friends about the high-profile Lindsay Clancy murder trial just hours before the incident. Clancy, who admitted to strangling her three children with exercise bands in January 2023, was recently found not guilty by reason of insanity. Her defense argued she suffered from postpartum psychosis.

Casey Anthony was accused of suffocating her daughter, Caylee, in 2008. Her remains were found months later, and Anthony was acquitted of murder charges in a 2011 trial.
