Molly Cheek, 'American Pie' Mom, Spotted in Rare Los Angeles Outing
The 76-year-old actress, known for her role in the 1999 cult classic, was seen enjoying a low-key day in the city.
Molly Cheek, the actress who gained recognition for her role as the mother of Jim Levenstein in the 1999 teen comedy "American Pie," was recently observed during a rare public appearance in Los Angeles. Cheek, now 76, was photographed earlier this month in the city.
For her outing, she chose a casual ensemble, wearing a long-sleeve grey top, black pants, and a dark sweater tied around her waist. Her blonde hair was loose, and she completed the look with eyeglasses. Cheek, a graduate of Connecticut College, has largely retired from acting, with her last credited on-screen appearances dating back to 2012.
Cheek portrayed the mother of Jason Biggs's character, Jim Levenstein, in "American Pie" and its subsequent sequels. Her onscreen husband, Mr. Levenstein, was played by Eugene Levy. The original film, directed by Paul and Chris Weitz, followed a group of high school seniors making a pact to lose their virginity before graduation. Cheek reprised her role in "American Pie 2" (2001), "American Wedding" (2003), and "American Pie Reunion" (2012).
Beyond the "American Pie" franchise, Cheek's filmography includes "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" (1979), "Purple People Eater" (1988), "April's Shower" (2003), "A Lot Like Love" (2005), "Good Time Max" (2007), and "Drag Me to Hell" (2009). Her television credits include a recurring role as Nancy Bancroft on "It's Garry Shandling's Show" (1986-1990) and Nancy Henderson on "Harry and the Hendersons" (1991-1993). She also made guest appearances on "Family Ties," "Once and Again," "St. Elsewhere," "Diagnosis Murder," "Cold Case," "Hardcastle and McCormick," "The Yeagers," and "Murder, She Wrote."
Cheek has been married to director Howard Murray since July 3, 2004.
