Model Sahara Ray Dies at 34 After Reported Fentanyl Overdose
The Australian model was reportedly taken off life support following an overdose in Los Angeles.
Model Sahara Ray, who was previously linked to Justin Bieber, has died at the age of 34. Reports indicate her death followed a fentanyl overdose on Friday, leading to her hospitalization in Los Angeles and subsequent placement on life support.
An insider told the Daily Mail that Ray's family made the decision to remove her from life support on Sunday. An official cause of death has not yet been released, and it remains unclear if the overdose was accidental or intentional.
Ray's mother, Gretchen Bach, released a statement describing her daughter as “an incredibly passionate and kind young woman who loved her family, fashion, her daughter Snow, and surfing.” She added that the family was “feeling the love that is pouring in from her cherished friends, fans and the many communities that she was part of around the world.”
Ray’s death comes just months after welcoming her daughter, Snow Ray Dow, in January. She had introduced her newborn in an April social media post.
In April 2024, Ray had also disclosed her struggle with Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune disease that caused temporary paralysis from the upper thighs down to her feet after she was hit by a car. According to Mayo Clinic, the condition involves the body's immune system attacking its nerves, leading to symptoms such as weakness, numbness, or paralysis, and can be triggered by trauma like a car crash.
