Model and beauty entrepreneur Casey James is facing significant medical expenses after her father suffered a severe fall in Thailand. He is currently in a coma in a Bangkok intensive care unit, battling for his life after a sudden brain bleed led to a seizure, a fractured skull, and emergency brain surgery.
James, co-founder of Copini Beauty, shared on Instagram that her father was found alone and unconscious in his hotel room two days after the incident. He has been in a coma for nearly two weeks and has undergone multiple emergency brain surgeries. A portion of his skull had to be removed to alleviate pressure and swelling. He also requires an endotracheal tube and ventilator for breathing and has developed pneumonia.
Medical expenses have already surpassed $135,000, including the cost of surgeries and ongoing ICU treatment. James stated that the cost of keeping her father in the ICU is approximately $50,000 per week. The estimated cost to transport him safely back to Australia is around $500,000, not including anticipated long-term care and rehabilitation.
A GoFundMe page has been established by James' cousin, Bridgette Pereira, with a goal of raising $250,000 for his medical care. As of Sunday evening, the fundraiser had received over $36,000 in donations.
James expressed the shock and fear of her family's situation, noting that she lost her mother to cancer just two years prior. She emphasized the fragility of life and urged others to cherish their loved ones.
This situation comes months after James' husband, Sydney real estate agent Warren Ginsberg, celebrated his 36th birthday with a seaside wedding in February, as documented on his Instagram.
