‘MobLand’ Season 2 Episode 6: Maeve Faces Consequences as Family Ties Fray
The latest episode of 'MobLand' sees Maeve confronting fallout from her actions, while other family members grapple with loyalty and survival.
The sixth episode of MobLand Season 2, titled "Family Vacation," escalates the internal conflicts within the Harrigan family, particularly focusing on Maeve's volatile nature and the repercussions of her schemes. Maeve finds herself unexpectedly at a Mallorcan villa, the property of Priyanka, a woman Maeve despises due to a past entanglement with Conrad that resulted in Seraphina. Her refuge is short-lived as Harry, Eddie, and Gina arrive, leading to immediate friction.
Eddie's ill-advised attempt to claim credit for completing a mission to murder "the Medusa" backfires when Harry and Gina, who were present during the actual events, contradict his story. This deception further alienates Eddie from Maeve. Harry then confronts Maeve directly, expressing his deep anger over her knowingly endangering their daughter, Seraphina. He issues a stark warning: while Eddie is hers to deal with, any future endangerment of his daughter will result in Maeve's death. Despite Maeve's fury at this confrontation, her complaints to Conrad are dismissed as he is preoccupied with Priyanka.
Meanwhile, Seraphina presents a business proposal to Conrad: a partnership with her stepfather, billionaire Charlton. The plan aims to leverage Charlton's resources to solidify the Harrigans' criminal empire. This proposition is made under the pretense of Seraphina having always intended to betray Kat McAllister, a narrative supported by Harry. However, Conrad rejects the offer, stating his commitment to his outlaw lifestyle, comparing himself to Sonny Corleone rather than Michael Corleone, and reminiscing about a formative criminal act with Maeve in their youth.
As the episode progresses, the fallout from Frankie Cooper's actions intensifies. Frankie has taken over the Harrigan home and killed Conrad's dogs. The majority of the Harrigan family is on the run, and even Harry's civilian wife, Jan, has evaded capture despite remaining in London. Frankie, having lost several men, including one tortured by Conrad, contemplates killing the crooked cop Colin Tattersall. Tattersall confesses a disturbing attraction to the criminal element, revealing a morbid connection with Frankie that culminates in Frankie promising Tattersall a front-row seat to Jan's impending death.
The episode concludes with significant emotional and moral shifts for the Da Souza family. Harry attempts to reconnect with his traumatized daughter, Gina, promising to be more forthcoming about the criminal aspects of his life. Their moment of vulnerability is interrupted when Jan, pushed to her breaking point, makes a desperate call to Harry threatening suicide if contacted again. In a drastic move to avoid capture, Jan infiltrates Jamie/Donnie's apartment and murders him. The episode highlights the profound and often irreversible consequences of living within a violent world, as both Gina and Jan face the grim reality of their actions and circumstances.
