MMA Fighter Arrested, Charged in Assault of NYC Woman
Renfro Solomon, known as 'The Black Dragon,' faces multiple charges including assault and aggravated harassment.
Mixed martial arts fighter Renfro Solomon, 29, also known by the moniker 'The Black Dragon,' has been arrested and charged with assault and other offenses in connection with an alleged attack on a 22-year-old woman in Lower Manhattan. The incident occurred early Sunday morning at an apartment building located at 47 Madison Street in Chinatown.
Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 5:55 a.m. and found the victim with visible injuries, including scratches and bruises on her chest and arms. Emergency medical services evaluated the victim at the scene. Solomon was taken into custody for questioning.
Approximately two hours after his arrest, Solomon was charged with assault, aggravated harassment, criminal mischief, and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to police. ESPN reports that Solomon is a welterweight MMA fighter with a professional record of 11 wins and 6 losses.
Records indicate that Solomon was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on Sunday. He was referred to a court-ordered problem-solving program and is scheduled to return to court on November 18.
