Israeli forward Dor Turgeman celebrated a goal for the New England Revolution on Saturday against CF Montreal amid allegations that some opposing fans chanted "Death to Israel" and "Free Palestine." Turgeman scored in the 36th minute, putting the Revolution ahead 2-0, and proceeded to run across the goal mouth with his hand to his ear, a gesture directed at Montreal supporters.

The incident escalated when CF Montreal goalkeeper Sebastian Breza shoved Turgeman, sparking a confrontation between players. Breza received a yellow card for the incident. According to reports, beer bottles were also allegedly thrown at Turgeman during his celebration.

CF Montreal acknowledged the allegations in a statement Sunday, confirming they are aware of the claims of discriminatory comments. "The Club does not tolerate discrimination, or hateful behavior of any kind. We take these allegations very seriously and are currently reviewing the matter," the club stated. They added that they are in contact with Major League Soccer (MLS) and the New England Revolution to establish facts and determine necessary actions.

As of Sunday, MLS had not released a statement regarding the alleged incident. Turgeman, 22, was born in Ashdod, Israel, and joined the Revolution in 2025. He has represented Israel internationally at youth and senior levels.

Separately, discussions around the financial aspects of U.S. youth soccer highlight significant cost barriers. Average annual spending per child has increased by 69% since 2019, a trend that limits opportunities for lower-income families due to the prevalent pay-to-play model. This systemic issue affects talent development within the sport.
