Senator Mitch McConnell was found unconscious at his Washington, D.C. residence last month, potentially suffering a heart attack, according to a District Fire and EMS dispatch call that was made public Wednesday. The June 14 call indicated that advanced life support personnel were dispatched to the senator's home shortly before 9 a.m., with reports of "CPR in progress" for a "cardiac arrest."

Representatives for the former Senate Republican leader have not commented on the emergency communications. On the day of the incident, a spokesman for McConnell stated that the senator "was admitted to the hospital this morning" and was "receiving excellent care."

The following day, spokesman David Popp reported that McConnell was "working closely with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters as he continues his recovery." Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) also noted that McConnell was "dialed in" on legislative business and that Thune had spoken with him by phone.

The 84-year-old senator has experienced several falls in recent years, resulting in a concussion and a fractured rib. He has also had public episodes of apparent light-headedness. The Senate is currently in recess until July 13.
