Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was discharged Thursday from a rehabilitation facility where he had been recovering after a fall at his Kentucky home in mid-June. McConnell is returning home to continue his physical therapy regimen.
"Earlier today, I was discharged from the rehabilitation center to continue my recovery at home," McConnell said in a statement released by his office. "Elaine and I are grateful for the many well wishes and support from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, and for the attentive care I’ve received from excellent doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff."
McConnell, R-Ky., plans to maintain an intensive schedule of physical therapy from his home during the Senate's upcoming state work period. He stated he will continue to engage with his staff and colleagues on Senate business while recovering.
