Mistress of Ex-'American Idol' Contestant Accused of Murder Named in Court
Victim's sister identifies the woman as having had a years-long affair with the accused.
The woman with whom former "American Idol" contestant Caleb Flynn allegedly had a long-term affair was identified in court Tuesday by the victim's sister. Flynn is currently on trial for the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn.
Kayla Keyt, Ashley Flynn's sister, testified that Alleigha Botner had a "years-long affair" with Caleb Flynn. Keyt stated that she knew Botner from their church, where Botner was on the worship team with Flynn.
Flynn, 40, is accused of killing his wife, Ashley, 37, in their Tipp City, Ohio, home in February. He has pleaded not guilty to charges including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and witness intimidation.
Prosecutors allege Flynn staged the scene to appear as a home invasion and initially told police that an intruder had shot his wife.
Earlier in the trial, Ashley Flynn's mother, Jill Smith, testified about the hours before her daughter's death. Smith recalled a "Galentine's Day" celebration on February 15, where Ashley and her two daughters, aged 10 and 12, engaged in a spa night with skin treatments. A photograph presented in court showed the mother and daughters during this celebration.
Smith testified that the following day, February 16, Caleb Flynn called her to report his wife's death, stating, "She’s gone. Ashley is gone. Someone broke in, and they shot her."
