Mistress Accused of Judging Unwed Mother While Affair With 'American Idol' Contestant Unfolds
Alleigha Botner allegedly criticized Sarah Reeves for having a child out of wedlock, even as Botner was involved with Caleb Flynn, who is on trial for his wife's murder.
Alleigha Botner, identified as a mistress in a high-profile murder trial, is accused of passing judgmental remarks about unwed mothers to Sarah Reeves. Botner allegedly told Reeves that unwed mothers were not welcome to join the leadership team of the Christian Life Center (CLC) in Troy, Ohio, where Botner performed on stage in September 2023.
Reeves stated that while she felt welcome at the CLC, issues arose when she sought to join its music ministry. Botner's alleged comments came despite her own extramarital affair with Caleb Flynn, a former contestant on the reality show "American Idol." Flynn is currently on trial for the murder of his wife, Ashley.
During the trial, Botner reportedly wept when asked to read text messages exchanged with Flynn. These messages allegedly depicted the pair fantasizing about killing Flynn's wife, Ashley. Evidence presented in court included these AI-generated love songs that Flynn "composed" for Botner.
Flynn, who participated in the 2013 season of "American Idol" and was eliminated in the Hollywood round, has maintained his wife's death was the result of an unknown intruder. He and Ashley had two daughters.
Flynn reportedly told Botner that he disliked his wife and her family, and that he remained married primarily for their children's sake. Ashley was fatally shot in their Tipp City, Ohio, home in February. Botner has since relocated to North Carolina.
