Missouri Teen Dies Days After School Scissor Accident

A Missouri teenager has died eight days after being accidentally stabbed with scissors at school. Jeffery Chandler, 15, died on Tuesday from injuries sustained on October 5 at University City High School, the St. Louis Medical Examiner told the Daily Mail. The exact circumstances and location of the stabbing remain unclear.

First responders attended the scene and the school was placed on lockdown, according to the School District of University City. The district stated that the University City Police Department's Bureau of Investigation conducted a thorough review and has ruled out foul play, interviewing all pertinent individuals.

An internal investigation was also completed by the district. The school district released a message to the community stating that comprehensive crisis counseling and mental health support services are available at all district schools for students and staff.

Friends and family of Chandler have paid tribute to him on social media. His aunt, Jessica Chandler, shared articles about his death with the caption "Nephew" accompanied by broken heart and sad face emojis. Friends also posted memorial messages, with one writing, "I will miss you forever and love you forever."

When contacted by the Daily Mail, the district declined to provide further information.
