Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy will make his season debut on Saturday against the Arkansas Razorbacks, according to a report from ESPN. Hardy, who suffered a gunshot wound during the offseason, is expected to handle a number of carries, though he is not slated to start.
Jamal Roberts will retain his starting position as the Tigers gradually reintegrate Hardy into the offensive scheme. Hardy transferred from UL Monroe in 2024 and quickly established himself as a prominent running back in the SEC. Last season, he recorded 1,649 rushing yards on 256 carries, averaging 6.4 yards per carry, and scored 16 touchdowns. He also achieved 300 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a single game against Mississippi State.
It remains uncertain whether Hardy will declare for the NFL Draft or return for another season. He is projected as a top running back with a potential first-round grade. Returning for another year could provide him with a full season to further enhance his draft stock, as he still has two years of eligibility remaining. Hardy's return to the field this weekend marks a significant accomplishment following his recovery.
