Missouri Neurosurgeon Sentenced to Prison for Glasgow Nightclub Sex Attack
Camilo Molina, a prominent surgeon and Colombian migrant, received a two-year sentence and must register as a sex offender for a 'predatory' assault in Scotland.
A neurosurgeon from Missouri has been sentenced to two years in prison for a sexual assault that occurred in a Glasgow nightclub in April 2025. Camilo Molina, 40, was found guilty of the attack on a 20-year-old woman at the Kong nightclub, despite initially pleading not guilty.
Molina, who was in Scotland for a medical conference at the time of the incident, was described by police as approaching the woman from behind and placing his hand under her skirt. He is a Colombian migrant who resided in St. Louis, Missouri, and held significant professional roles, including deputy director of spine innovation at Washington University in St. Louis and associate professor.
Following his conviction, Molina resigned from his positions at Washington University and has also had his medical license revoked. The judge at his sentencing in Scotland noted the severe consequences Molina has faced, including the loss of his license and his home, but stated that the predatory nature of his behavior could not be overlooked.
Molina's defense attorney highlighted his success in the medical field, describing him as a top surgeon who saved lives through complex procedures. However, the court heard that the consequences of his conviction have been "catastrophic."
Prosecutors presented CCTV footage showing Molina approaching the woman and touching her. A security guard testified that the woman appeared to be crying afterward. Molina claimed he had consensual intentions and grazed her skirt flirtatiously, stating she had not objected to his advances.
In addition to his prison sentence, Molina has been placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years. He had indicated that his wife remained supportive throughout the legal proceedings. He and his wife live in a $2 million mansion in St. Louis.
