Missouri Attackers Apologize After Vicious Beating Following Fender Bender

A group of individuals in Missouri unleashed a violent assault on a 63-year-old retired truck driver, Lance Jeffries, following a minor car accident on Saturday. The attackers, who were returning from a trip to the zoo, allegedly began screaming at Jeffries and then physically attacked him after he approached their vehicle to check on them following the fender bender.

Disturbing video footage captured multiple people kicking Jeffries and dragging him along the ground. His daughter, Valancia, described the scene as her father being treated "like a piece of lint out of the streets." Jeffries sustained severe injuries, including swollen eyes, neck injuries, a swollen jaw, and blood clots in his leg and stomach from the kicks. He was hospitalized and required surgery, experiencing significant pain, trauma, and fear.

The attackers also reportedly stole Jeffries' wallet. The assault occurred in Jennings, Missouri.

Following the incident, some of those involved in the attack issued apologies. Mary Moore, one of the individuals seen in the video, stated that her immediate reaction was anger and that she wasn't thinking about Jeffries' age. She later expressed remorse, saying, "My actions they’re not OK at all. I am hurt and I am disappointed in myself." Tamara Logan, another participant in the assault, also apologized for her role, admitting, "I apologize for kicking and slapping him. I was in the wrong." Davion Alfred, identified as the father of Moore's children, expressed that he was "hurt" and "disappointed" by his own actions, acknowledging that "None of that was justified."

Despite the apologies, prosecutors have indicated an intent to pursue charges. Authorities stated that those responsible would be "fully prosecuted" after a thorough investigation. As of Wednesday, Moore, Logan, and Alfred were being held at the St. Louis County Jail, though no charges had been formally filed. Another relative was also reportedly in custody.
