Mississippi Man Survives Horrifying Ordeal Inside Garbage Truck

A Mississippi man is recovering after a terrifying incident on Wednesday when he was accidentally compacted inside a garbage truck. Craig Hill was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for treatment following the ordeal.

Firefighters responded to a call at a Circle K along Highway 61 and Iowa Boulevard, where they attended to Hill before his transfer to the hospital. According to his sister, Summer Carlin, who traveled from Texas after hearing the news, Hill suffered severe bruises.

"He kinda burst into tears a little bit. We both cried together," Carlin told WJTV. "And I just hugged him."

Carlin mentioned that she had not seen her brother in over a year and that he has been struggling with homelessness. The hospital was able to identify his family due to a note found with Hill containing contact information.

Carlin further stated that Hill underwent surgery on his pelvis to insert pins and plates. She has established an online fundraiser to help cover his medical expenses and support him as he rebuilds his life.

"Craig was inside a trash bin trying to get something when the truck picked it up before he could get out," the fundraiser description reads. "He yelled for help, but the driver could not hear him."

The fundraiser aims to provide for Hill's "care and needs during this critical time" and assist him in "rebuilding his life and getting back on his feet after this traumatic event."
