Miranda Kerr Details Strict Diet to Manage Inflammatory Bowel Condition
The supermodel explains her specific food choices, including avoiding eggs and favoring meats like bison and venison, are due to a personal health battle.
Miranda Kerr has revealed the personal health reasons behind her notably specific diet, which involves avoiding certain foods like eggs in favor of meats such as bison and venison.
The 43-year-old Australian supermodel shared that she has been managing an inflammatory bowel condition, specifically proctitis, for years. This condition necessitates careful attention to her food intake to prevent inflammation.
"Certain things inflame me. That doesn’t mean it inflames everyone," Kerr told Stellar magazine. "For instance, my kids eat eggs. That's amazing, right?"
Kerr, who is mother to Flynn, Hart, Myles, and Pierre, clarified that her children do not follow the same restrictive eating plan. "My kids are not eating bison, but I am because that's what is working for me," she stated. She emphasized that her focus on health stems from a desire to perform her best as a mother, in her work, and as a friend.
While Kerr finds sticking to her diet beneficial, she admitted that abstaining from eggs has been challenging. "It would be so much easier if I could [say yes], let me tell you. Because I really did enjoy eggs. I miss eggs," she said.
In August, Kerr first discussed her wellness routine on Kristin Cavallari's podcast, where she detailed her daily eating habits. Her mornings typically begin with noni juice, a drink she has consumed for 30 years, which she takes as a 30ml shot for its antioxidant, vitamin, and mineral content. She also consumes a homemade tea made from marshmallow leaf, which she believes supports gut health and overall wellbeing.
Kerr stressed the importance of individualizing dietary choices, noting that what works for her may not be suitable for others. Her transparency about her diet comes as she aims to provide an honest account of her personal health practices.
