Miranda Hart Embraces 'Mad, Fat, Old Aunt' Role on Celebrity Traitors

Miranda Hart, a participant in the latest season of Celebrity Traitors, has humorously embraced her on-screen persona, joking that she has already adopted the "mad, fat, old aunt role." The comedian's light-hearted self-assessment comes as the BBC series continues to capture audience attention.

Hart, who is a "faithful" in the game, shared her reflections on Instagram, poking fun at her own often chaotic appearances in the first two episodes. She recalled her memorable entrance into the Scottish castle, exclaiming "peacock," and an awkward curtsy to fellow contestant Ross Kemp. A particularly memorable moment for Hart involved being covered in mud during a challenge, resulting in an "unfortunate mud mustache."

In a video filmed in her garden, Hart recreated her mud-covered look with leaves and twigs. "I just wonder if I've segued into the mad, fat, old aunt role just a little too soon," she mused, adding, "I don't know jury's out."

Fans have responded positively to Hart's candidness. Comments on social media expressed delight at her return to screens, with viewers relating to her reactions and calling her "absolutely fabulous."

The show's recent episodes have also generated significant discussion among viewers regarding plot developments and the show's format. The second episode concluded with a cliffhanger during a round table discussion, leaving many fans frustrated by the abrupt halt before a vote could be cast.

Richard E. Grant, who admitted to being a traitor early on, became the focus of intense debate at the first round table. The episode ended just as contestants were discussing whether to vote him out, a format choice that drew criticism from some viewers who prefer a traditional conclusion to the round table segment.

Elsewhere in the competition, former Today programme host Amol Rajan was the first contestant to be eliminated. Rajan was murdered by fellow traitors Richard E. Grant and Maya Jama, and subsequently lost a chance to become a traitor himself to comedian James Acaster. Rajan expressed his disappointment at being eliminated early but acknowledged the strategic nature of the game.

The series launch reportedly drew a record-breaking nine million viewers, surpassing previous premieres for The Traitors UK. This viewership figure notably exceeded ratings for the first live show of Strictly Come Dancing.

The celebrity contestants are playing for a cash prize of up to £100,000 for their chosen charities. The second mission involved participants being buried alive in pairs in coffins, a challenge that proved too intense for Jerry Hall, who opted out with her partner Hannah Fry. As a result, Hall and Fry became vulnerable to the next "murder" within the game.
