Miranda Hart and Joanne McNally Address "Feud" Rumors After "Celebrity Traitors" Clash
The comedians clarified their on-screen argument was game-related and that they remain on good terms.
Miranda Hart has responded to speculation of a feud with fellow comedian Joanne McNally, which arose after a heated exchange on the BBC's "Celebrity Traitors." The incident occurred when Hart suspected McNally of being a "Traitor" based on a "bouncing floor" theory during a challenge.
During the episode, Hart believed she heard floorboards creak next to her, indicating McNally's movement. However, after discussing the situation, Hart conceded her theory might be incorrect. Despite this, she brought up the matter at the roundtable, prompting a frustrated response from McNally, who stated, "You've just brought in a debunked theory and brought it to the floor again."
Fans interpreted the on-screen tension as a genuine dispute that had spilled over into their real lives, particularly after it was noted that Hart does not follow McNally on Instagram. Both comedians have since addressed these rumors.
McNally took to her Instagram Stories to describe the episode as "the one where I snapped at Miranda at the table." She acknowledged that it wasn't her "finest moment" and that the tension and "gaslighting" of the game had affected her. "Rest assured, me and Miranda have laughed about it since," McNally added.
Hart echoed these sentiments on her own Stories, sharing a clip of McNally and writing, "Love this woman." In another post, Hart downplayed the severity of the roundtable exchange, stating, "It's so funny to me that people are saying that you snapped. Never felt like that. Was never stressed. And actually we chinked glasses and laughed on the night."
The show's challenge involved Faithfuls being blindfolded while Traitors attempted to sabotage the game. Traitor James Acaster's refusal to participate further heightened the team's frustration. Hart's "bouncing floor theory" was eventually declared debunked by herself at the roundtable. When questioned by Michael Sheen about why it was debunked, Hart explained that the sound could have come from elsewhere in the room.
McNally expressed her frustration during the roundtable, stating, "So I was just... Of all the people, you would say I was the one moving round the floor seems a bit mad when I literally didn't move." Hart then reiterated that she was "saying debunked," but McNally pushed back, asserting that the theory had been brought up again. The episode highlighted the strategic deceptions inherent in the game of "Celebrity Traitors."
