Minnie Driver is "grateful to be alive" after surviving a severe car accident in France.

In an Instagram post shared Thursday, the actress described the T-bone collision as "really bad," noting that she and a friend "crawled out of it." Driver, who appeared to be wearing a neck brace, clarified that the accident occurred on an "old country road" and was not her fault. She explained that another vehicle "didn’t stop at an intersection and was going at speed" when it impacted their car.

Driver, 56, stated she sustained a sprained neck and is experiencing shock and emotional distress but anticipates healing. She attributed her survival directly to the vehicle they were driving, a "tiny little Kia" equipped with 360-degree airbags. "The fact that the entire car didn’t just crush us is down to the design of that car which is frankly astonishing," she said, praising the manufacturer.

The actress also acknowledged the support of a van driver who stopped to assist before emergency services arrived. In contrast, she noted another driver who "slowed down took in the scene and drove off without stopping."

Driver is currently documenting her trip to Paris on social media, sharing moments of enjoying local food and scenery. She reflected on the incident as part of the "Dao of the world, the light and the dark" and described the process of replaying the crash as difficult but necessary for processing the event. Her loved ones have offered messages of support and well wishes for a speedy recovery.
