Authorities have charged a Minnesota woman with sexually assaulting infants after she allegedly sent prosecutors a QR code linking to graphic videos and images depicting the abuse. Kimberly Faith Christy, 37, of Moorhead, has been detained on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of using a minor in a sexual performance.

Investigators received the self-incriminating email on June 28, according to a criminal complaint. The QR code led to a trove of evidence that prosecutors stated appeared to show Christy sexually abusing multiple children. Initially, the email was flagged as a potential phishing scam due to its unusual nature, but investigators later concluded the content was authentic.

One video dated March 7, 2018, allegedly shows Christy sexually abusing a girl between six months and two years old while she screamed. Police noted that the video appeared to be filmed by Christy herself. Another video, from November 3, 2013, reportedly depicts an attack on an infant, identified as Child 1, who can be heard crying throughout the footage. Photographs from October 6, 2019, are also alleged to show further abuse of a girl suspected to be Child 2.

During an interview with detectives, Christy reportedly admitted to sexually assaulting both children depicted in the videos. The nature of her relationship with the victims remains unclear.

Christy faces significant legal penalties if convicted. The two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct carry a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine each. The two counts of using a minor in a sexual performance each carry a maximum sentence of 10 years and a $20,000 fine. She is currently being held on $500,000 bond.

Her partner, Mitchell Spitzmiller, 40, also has a criminal history. He was charged earlier this year with second-degree assault for allegedly attacking a man with a hammer. His trial is scheduled for later this month.
