Minnesota voters participated in primary elections Tuesday to determine key matchups for the upcoming general election, including races for the U.S. Senate and the governorship.
In the race for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Democratic Sen. Tina Smith, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan has secured the Democratic nomination. On the Republican side, former NFL sideline reporter Michele Tafoya won her party's nomination. Flanagan and Tafoya will now face off in the general election.
For the Minnesota governorship, with current Democratic Gov. Tim Walz retiring, Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar is projected to win the Democratic primary. She will compete against Republican Lisa Demuth, who currently serves as the speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives. This race will determine the next governor of the state.
